I've recently aquired a RES and he's now living with my female Painted turtle in an indoor aquarium setup. Now I know that they are from different genus, but is there still a possibility that they will actually breed sucessfully? Or will my Painted just end up laying unfertilized eggs?

Just wanted to know what to expect in a couple of years when they mature. Thanks!
