Awesome hybrid!

eddief Jan 08, 2008 08:27 PM

Sorry. Terminator 3 is on and I couldn't resist.

Technically, Arnold is the hybrid (human tissue over metal alloy endoskelaton), and the chick terminator is a new technology altogether.

Uh, okay. I'll go back to watching TV now...

I guess the first image I used was hosted by a site that didn't want me using it...but you get the idea.

I watched that movie last night for the first time. i saw Term I and II when they came out but never III. I thought it was great for the first half and then the movie really lost stability when they went to get her dad. Everything before that was great. I thought wow how did I miss this movie but then it became clear during the second half of the movie why.

It is amazing to me that producers/directors screw a good movie up like that. It is almost like there are two different people making the movie. There are other movies like that I have see that do the same thing . They have a good plot but it seems they don't know how to wrap it up and then they try so hard to make everying so sensational. If I was an investor in movies I would only choose directors and producers who are known for more quality endings.

Agreed.

I am quite fond of the first half of that movie. From the moment it starts, through the crane/firetruck scene, well that's just about as good as big shoot-em-up blockbuster moviemaking gets. What a ride.

I confess: I am going to watch the TV show at least once. I love the Terminator franchise.

Writing any fiction is fairly easy but ending a story is difficult. This is why in my opinion the end of the Lord of the Rings trilogy is hard to beat.......I mean it took quite some time to finally imply what happens to all the characters.
It is easier to leave on a note showing the story is NOT over...which is why sequels are all the rage,....

Tom, it's been a long time since I've seen that, but as I recall, I thought that last movie had a very hard time ending. I thought it should have ended when everyone bowed to the group, including the king. After that, there were like five or six alternate endings all in a row. I haven't watched it again, but felt at the time I'd turn it off after that scene because that's where it should have ended.

I love kingsnakes. The end.

Alternate endings? What I recall is showing what each of the characters were going to be doing individually. After all if we didn't know Sam was marrying Rosie the bar chick....we'd of all thought he was...you know.... Tom Stevens

well, alternate endings wasn't the right term. But additional endings maybe. I don't know, I thought everything after the bowing scene was unnecessary. But it's been a long while since I've seen it.

I don't think the movie Terminator II was a bad ending. It just lost all ccredibility when the girl ran into her dads work which was a top secret place that she didn't even know about. She could not have gotten security clearance that fast.

The first half was cool . It did not take such a radically different angle as some sequels (which I think is why they fail) I was pleasanlt surprised to see the same character makeups with a hot looking chick as the evil terminator and using John Conners as a worn out druggy was genius. But man the movie dissapointed all of a sudden half way through and then nose dived bad.

And that acting job by Arnold is embarrassing . Where he is standing in the airpost hanger and is shorting himself out because of two opposing objectives. The stupid look on his face when he shorted out shows he never could act. i am surprised they left that in the movie. It reminded me of his facial expreesions in the comedy Jingle all the way.

basically, it was like I said. It seems like two different people were working that movie. The first half was credible and the second half lost all credibilty, scenes did not make sense and they added stuff that just went knowhere and had no reason.

The way the first half was going they should have focused more on the relationship between John Connor and his future wife. They used the suspense of her not finding out who he really was quite well and was leading up to a big climax but then nothing. Also they should have focussed more on the underground fallout center being more realistic and then just applied a similar ending of the terminators.

I nomally don't care about movies and such but that movie had good rythum and I was sad to see it crap out all of a sudden.

towards the end when ahnuld was holding up the door for john connor he did say "we'll meet again". leaves all sorts of room for a prequel sequel where john's father goes back the first time,... or all this time travel has the butterfly effect and none of this happens ( or the movie is never made, hahahaha)

well there is a series on TV now.

Arnold would not be sitting in the governors chair right now if he never made Terminator I. Launched his carrer from the silly bad movies he made before. Perfect role for the guy with the austrian accent who could not act .
