anyone have any experience with this stuff? Does it work well? Is it harmful to animals or cause impaction? Just wondering.

MarkG posted this to my reply about the same product:
"The product is a sand mixture with some clay. When moist, the mix can be molded. When dry, it holds shape. The idea is really to mold burrows and let it dry. If you leave it dry and cruble it up, it is just soil that tends to cling together more than sand.
BTW, it says on the pkg that it shouldn't be used with undertank heat. The reason they say that is because thick layers of the substrate, when dry, will not heat effectively on top (from a heater below) and may trap enough heat below to crack the glass."
I decided against it for my collareds because I use an undertank heater 24/7 and don't want to risk it.
Another person on a different forum said they used it and had to literally chip it out when they went to clean the tank.It evidently dried so hard it was stuck...I was thinking about using it to mold some hides ahead of time, maybe adding a little plaster of paris to firm it up if needed..Might be an inexpensive way to make disposable rocks and other cage furniture.
