Venomous Snake business in California

JasonMc Aug 26, 2003 04:03 AM

I have been working on a busines proposal to start up a venom extraction business which would supply researchers a continuos supply of venom to work with. I know on the east coast laws are way more laxed on the owning of hot herps. The delema that I have come into is, I currently live in California and love it here (with exception to the job market). A major problem is that this state is so strict with its animal laws. I know the permits to own gila monsters are very steep, but how do these permits work? Would I be allowed to do business here with 200 venomous snakes. Can I get a permit to run my opperation here in california if im an educational institute or for medical purposes. I would be closed to the public but be open to students studying herpatology and biology. Could I get one permit for all the snakes or would I need 200 permits. I was also told that Gila monster permits are $500.00 a year per monster, does this mean that I would pay $100,000.00 a year just to have my snakes? Thats insane.
I understand this is a complex question that could have many more outcomes. I am still doing research while putting together my business proposal. Any info towards owning venomous snakes in California would be appreciated.
Thanks for your time: Jason

Jason, the job market in California will be better for you when your spelling and grasp of the English language improves. ~Bill~

You're right, dick, I should have proofread and spell-checked my post before sending it. Reading the post now, it is rather embarrassing, but people know what I am asking. This doesn't excuse your rather rude and unhelpful attitude toward my question. I didn't realize that this was a doctoral dissertation; funny, I thought it was a casual forum. Maybe next time I can e-mail you a copy of my post before posting it. If this is not acceptable please don't offer your useless advice.
Thanks: Jason

Excuse me, Jason. I run a multi-million dollar business and I wouldn't consider doing business with you if you sent me some correspondence written the way that you presented it. Your language relects your intelligence and I found out many years ago that it is unwise and unprofitable to try and do business with individuals that are either careless or ignorant. The criticism was supposed to be constructive but you railed and struck back. How can you possibly consider such a dangerous career as milking venomous snakes if you can't control your anger? You are correct about this being a rather informal forum but good communication is always in vogue. ~Bill~

Jason, don't lose too much sleep over "wildtropics" unhelpful flames and petty comments.
This seems to be true to his form as is the same for some other alleged experts that frequent these forums.
ALL THE BEST

No sleep was lost, but thanks for the words of encouragement.

People who run a multi-million dollar business don't sit on this forum and make fun of people or brag about running a multi-million dollar business. Get a life buddy. If you run a multi-million dollar business I am sure you will post the name of it right here. If not keep it up making $8.25 a hour at In and Out Burger.

Well Bill being tactful and not rude would have been a lot better on your part !!! Being pleasant on these forums and not rude or demeaning is also in vogue . Or have you not heard ?
