So I changed my hoggies substrate from soil to aspen.
The first few days she was so adventurous. Couldn't stop digging tunnels.
Now she has been out of sight for over a week. A few days ago I looked for her just to make sure she was OK and she was all curled up under her dish. She went right back there and has stayed there for about 3 days now without coming out!! Im in nyc so it's not too cold here. The thing is, she is a really finicky eater. She hasn't eaten since december 6th. I'm not sure if I should keep bothering her to see if she is hungry or if I should just leave her alone. I know she can't be shedding because she doesn't eat nearly enough to shed. Maybe shes burmating? is it that time?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

There wasn't anything you described that sounded out of the ordinary for a hognose. But you really don't provide enough info for an evaluation. What kind of hognose? How old is it? What kind of heat are you using, and what are the temperatures (both the cold side and hot side)?

Sorry! It's a western Hognose. I've had her for about 2 years. She was a baby when I got her. I use under the tank heating and also a ceramic heating lamp above. I keep it at about 90 on the hot side and around 80 on the cool side. She usually stays on the heated side except for the past week, she's been under her water bowl. I turned off the heating lamp because it's very warm here lately.
Thanks!
