The only real difference is size of the needed enclosure. The care is identical. Figure you will eventually need a 5' long tank at least 2' wide, 21" tall with a lid. There is a detailed caresheet on my website for Uromastyx in general that applies to Egyptians as well.

There are photos of adults on my website (http://www.deerfernfarms.com/Uromastyx_Egyptian.htm)

No disrespect intended, I thank Doug for all his work with uros and his caresheet. But those dimensions are bare minimum and downright pitiful for anything over 18". I say 4 times snout to tail for enclosure length and 2 times snout to tail for enclosure width as a MINIMUM no matter how big the animal gets or why bother having it if you can't even house it humanely. In nature their burrows alone are much longer than that and adult Egyptians will claim a territory of around 100 sq. yards, sharing with no more than 3-4 others according to Wilms and some other herpetologists whose names escape me me at the moment. SO for the sake of argument, being that it is reportedly rare for Egyptians to exceed 24" by much(but I know of a few)let's say: hatchling to 8-9" no smaller than 40 long aquarium or 3'x1.5'; up to and around 12" no smaller than 4'x2', up to around 18" no smaller than 6'x3'. I suppose 6'x3' would suffice for life but I would give mine an 8'x4'for up to and around 24" and I really plan on giving mine an entire room (I have 2) with open face enclosures for hot spots. But I am crazy some would say. If someday I strike oil I will move somewhere I can keep them outside. Anyway I want to see how long I can keep them alive and just how big I can get them.
