Pics of hypo BCC crosses (peruvian, too)

voodoomagik Jan 12, 2008 12:35 PM

Hi, everyone!
Hope your breedings are going well this year.
Someone was asking what a 50% peruvian hypo would look like a little while back. Here are three hypo BCC crosses.
The top one is 50% guyana, the middle is 50% suri and the bottom one is 50% peruvian. Their names are Rocco, Puppy and Wilbur respectively. The top two pics are a little old, but I thought it’d make an interesting post to have all three.
You can definitely tell from some of their behavioral characteristics and not just their physical characteristics that they have BCC in them. This is mainly evident through the feeding schedule they keep, but you can also tell by head and body shape.
They have great personalities though. Puppy was hissy when I got him (like many young male BCC), but now he’s so tame that he’s the one I pull out with kids and people new to snakes.
Hope you like them!
Have a great breeding season.
Aaron

Hi, Bob!
Good to hear from you!
No problem on the pics and great question.
The middle one in the previous post/top one in this post (suri cross) is from a Gee line hypo male bred to a suri female. The other two are salmon males to BCC females. They’re all from different breeders. The suri cross is an 05 from John at JKB Reptiles, the Guyana an 06 from Brian at Spacecoast Reptiles and the Peruvian is an 07 from Bill Cagle.
In any kind of salmon hypo, I look for the bowtie saddles. For the Gee line stuff, I like the tiger stripes. The suri hypo is the only Gee line animal I have.
I’m really happy with what I got in these three and am excited to breed them. With a little luck, I think the hypo suri cross will be ready to go this fall.
Keep your fingers crossed for me!
Are you breeding anything this year?
Aaron
Oh-here are a couple of older pics. The suri cross is on top and the Guyana cross on bottom in a much clearer pic. The last is another pic of the Peruvian cross taken the same day as his other pic. You can really see the BCC influence in the consistency of the red in the tails.

Hypo BRBs?
That project's no joke! Very nice! That'll be awesome! Where'd you get them?
I've been lurking a lot on the BRB site and bothering Dave from rainbowsrus-kicking around the idea of getting into the BRBs. What a really nice patient, helpful guy.
Don't you have about 3,000 nics?
They should be ready soon, no?
Thanks for the good wishes for this season. 3 of my 5 attempts seem to be going really well. For the other two, I think the females had the age but not the size. I went against my usual practices and burned myself a little bit I think. I should have known better. Always trust your instincts, right?
You're quite welcome for the info. I'll keep you posted on those guys, especially as the 50% suri hypo gears up for breeding this fall. I’m really excited about that litter.
Is your collection mainly Rainbow Boas or Boa Constrictors?

I don't have any dwarfs and I have never owned any not that I wouldn't but not at this time. I remember you made a comment waaaay back in the day about me having nics or dwarfs but just thought you had me mixed up with someone else lol. Dave Colling is the sh-t and you are not going to meet another guy that honest, straight forward, great guy to do business with, patient is an understatement and an all around great guy with the best normals by far of any collector and once plugged into his morphs- the possibilities are endless. I have

1.1 het hypos '07
0.1 hypo late '06
2.2 normals

bci
1.1 double hets John Martino's double dose lipstick (big)
0.1 female possible (cha-ching) jungle het lipstick from Steve Ihrig (mini-me)
0.1 really red red salmon (average)
0.0.1 '05 Petco colombian (pretty sure it is female though) but just a pet

and I am trying to pick up about 4 or 5 normals and a het hypo female again this year from Dave if he has some nice ones if not I will try to one or two from Bryan Hummel as well to do some outcrossing of the hypo in search of redder ones. Here's my hypo female

thanks for looking
Bob

Ha! Sorry about that!
Thanks for the pics. I was going to ask you to please post some of those BRBs so you were ahead of me there!
I think I'm still a little intimidated by what everybody says about their humidity requirements. I live in Florida and they'd be in a room only for snakes so I don't think it'd be a problem, but I'm still a little gun shy.
Plus, I have too many BCs and too much at my job going on for right now. Things are slowing down at work which helps, but I have a good amount of females BCs moving into 4 foot Boaphiles which means more cleaning time.
I imagine it's just a matter of time though and I'll definitely be going to Dave. Hopefully, by that time, I'll be able to pick up a hypo and/or het from you as well!
Thanks for posting the pics. Those are great looking snakes. Good luck with them! I hope you get good odds on your het x het and hypo x het breedings.
