Cresties & Fertilized Plants

ANIMALmenagerie Jan 12, 2008 02:21 PM

Do fertilizers used in nurseries and greenhouses hurt cresties? In other words, can I go to Lowes or Home Depot or a nursery and use those plants in my gecko's tank, or will chemical fertilizers they use hurt them?
Thanks.

you want to avoid chemical fertilizers as much as possible. you can get potting soil that doesnt contain any of it, and it is often possible to get the plants that most people use with cresteds from nurseries w/o chems in th soil... talk to your local nursery and they will know how to help you out. good luck!

gently rinse all the leaves and all the soil off the roots, then replant.
