I am going to replace the basking light in the enclosure with a mercury vapor lamp. What can I expect as far as temperature at what distances with a 100 watt flood?

Is that a 55 gallon aquarium? If it is, I have a Powersun mercury vapor bulb (100 watt flood) in one of my beardie enclosures that is a 55 gallon. I have the bulb about 12 inches away from the basking spot. (Zoomed recommends that these bulbs are no closer than 12 inches.) At that distance, the bulb keeps the basking spot pretty toasty (around 95 - 100 degrees F). But if you have an all screen top, you are going to lose heat. You may have to add another bulb, just a regular household bulb (60 or 75 watt) to keep the hot side of the cage warmer.

i have a 100watt powersun over my 20 long with a full screen top and the basking spot is about 10-12 inches from the light it is about 103.3
Or get 160 watt bulb. If I could've started over. I would get the 160 watt bulb. They're not as warm as you'd imagine.
