about maybe 2 hrs ago i posted that my female irian jaya was being a fussy eater well i got her to eat just about 5 min ago but it really wasnt fun i had to brain a fuzzy mouse uhh it was horrible i hope i never half to do that again but if it really was nessesary to do it again i guess i would half to... but the worst part of it was the mouse still being partally still alive i tried to stune it but it was very much still alive but my snake with out hessataion struck constricted and swallowed.

horrible hope i never have to do that again.

you said its only 80 on the hot side and the female stays on the perch at the hot end if shes got other perches and hides on the cage floor i would interpret that as its not hot enough so she stays at the hottest part, listen to your snake. if she were always to stay on the cool end hot end is prolly to hot, my jcps hide in hides on the cage floor during the day then come out at night occasionaly they will bask on their perches during the day but the have two hides hot and cool so during the day they either stay in one or alternate. so basically ur temps should be raised keep the hot ambient mid to upper 80s with a basking spot a couple degrees hotter and keep the cool side mid to upper 70s. anyways its only been two weeks i wouldnt worry about it keep offering she will eventually eat if all other rquirments are met

Do you have both carpets in the same enclosure. If you do I would seperate them and just leave the female alone few a week or two. I have experienced that sometimes if you house two snakes together, one will dominate the enclosure and cause the submissive snake to not eat. I have all types of feeding personalities in my group. I'd just put her in a seperate enclosure with a hide and leave a prekilled food item overnight. Try and feed something a little larger then you are currently. I.E. if your feeding a hopper try an adult mouse. This has worked for me in the past with some of my stubborn neonate females. They don't refuse anything anymore. Hope that this helps and best of luck to you. I learn something new everyday about keeping these amazing pythons.
