Yellow spots on legs of Greek

gardenlady Jan 13, 2008 01:12 AM

I have a Greek Tortoise, had him about a month, he has recently started developing yellow deposits on his legs and one on his tail. They are flat and look like someone injected a small lump of butter under the skin. They do not seem to bother him and there is no redness or sign of infection. Does anyone know what they are and what is the cause and of course, what I can do for it?

Hi. Yellow deposits are usually fatty in nature. They could be lipomas which are benigh tumors filled with fat cells. You may need to take the tortoise to a vet to see if these are possibly diet related or idiopathic (no determinate cause) in nature.
