Juv radiated rat snake wont eat!!!

stevenunez Jan 13, 2008 05:58 PM

Hey guys, my daughter's radiated rat snake (juvenile) hasn't eaten since we got her at the Westchester Reptile Expo. The seller told me she was eating crawlers but ours hasn't eaten anything yet. I've offered thawed crawlers but so far the snake hasn't touched it.

Any advice on getting this snake to feed?
Are these snakes usually difficult feeders?

Thanks guys for any help in advance.

Have you tried live?

No I haven't as i have no access to live pinkies or crawlers.
Thanks for the suggestion- will look for Petshops that carry them live.

I've owned a few, both captive bred and a wild caught and all were good eaters. As Billy Boy said try live to get the appetite stimulated. Then you could try a live and dead together. I have a young rainbow boa that initially only took F.T. if it first got a live one. Eventually it started taking just F.T. Also, what are your temps? These guys like it real warm.

What is the humidity like in the cage? I have moss in the cages with my radiateds and they are always under is. I keep it really humid and I have no problems.
