VERY impressive BCC!!! Absolutely beautiful in my eyes. Do you have any history on him? I'd love to know more about him and what plans you have for him in the future!
And based on the second pic, he's definitely heading into shed.
He looks like the kind of animal the late (and incredibly great) Peter Watson would have hounded you over until you caved and sold him!
Thanks for posting pics of him.

well, at this point i really am not sure. I bought him at a pet shop in Austin, TX called Zookeepers. when i saw him i just knew that i had to have him and the sales man did not really know that much about him. he said that he thought that he was a wild caught boa from Suriname or Guyana, then i called back later and the same guy said that it was from the border area. i was not sure about this so i called back and talked to the owner and he then told me that they never sell wild caught boas in that store and that it was from their distributer in Florida, and he was not the one that made the deals with them. he told me that i should check back with the manager. so i kept trying to check with the manager, but he is never in. i have had him a little over a year now and i am still trying to find out his story. i figured that if he is CCB than the breeder should remember him, i would remember a boa like him at least. so if any of you know any one in Florida that has boas like this guy, i would love to know how to get a hold of them to see if they produced my boa. as for now, the owner said that it was a Suriname, but i feel wrong calling it that with out his lineage. so for now he is a nice BCC.

but trust me, i will keep trying to find out where he came from.

thanks

and see lots of imported Surinam and Guyana redtails. Guyana is what I would call that one. I understand from speaking to importers that there really is no difference between them and Surinam boas, but the term "guyana boa" makes me think lavender/pick coloration and the term "surinam boa" makes me think buckskin/pink. I know that in the past, importers would bring in animals from both countries in the same shipment because one country had easier exportation laws. People would collect animals from one country and bring it to another to be exported. The people in the US would then separate them and call the pink ones Surinams and the purple ones Guyanas. I think that really influenced our perception of what's a surinam and what's a guyana. When I buy a guyana, though, I still look for the purple coloration and when I buy a suri, I look for pink and buckskin because that's what people expect.
That being said...
There's a pet shop really close to where I live that has an importer connection in Guyana and brings in a lot of animals from there. They get a lot of gravid females, hold them until they have babies and then sell the mothers and babies so a LOT of Guyana BCC go through that store. They sell on Kingsnake, at shows and have a retail store. A lot of the BCC that come from there have those aberrant/striped patterns. It seems more often than not that when you see a BCC with a pattern similar to yours, it's billed as a guyana. I can give you the name and info if you want to PM me, but I’m not overly impressed with the store and wouldn’t put too much stock in what they have to say. It’s a really nice snake though and I’m sure you’ll be able to find a great mate for it.
