How to safely remove tape from a boa ???

Hello, my adult central american female got some tape stuck to her neck and its really attached to her ... i started to try and take it off but some scales were coming off so i stopped ... is there any way to make it come off easier???

anything i can put on it to help remove it ...

That's a tough one, I'd try some sort of vegetable oil. What kind of tape and how close to next shed?

I like the vegetable oil idea. Perhaps try soaking her first to see if it loosens some and then try to rub it off with the oil. As Brian was getting at, if she's due to shed soon you could just let it come off with the old skin too.

we've had some calls for snakes stuck on those nasty glue board things.

At walmart or any medical supply company/pharmacy there will be either a bottle or little pads similar to alcohol pads- of adhesive remover.

They have a very light scent- smells like coconut to me- no alcohol smell at all...

might try that!!

Several years back a friend of mine called up to ask for help removing tape from one of his boas. I got over to his house and she had it stuck pretty good to her neck, face and even across one of her eyes. We used vegetable oil lightly worked into the edges where the tape was stuck, slowly working the tape and it came up with little effort, just be sure not to rush. Good luck.

peanut butter is safe and will remove most glues and tapes. used it a could of times when neighbors have caught garters ans stuff in their basements.
