Giving up trying to fed 07 hatchlings

Melisssss Jan 14, 2008 01:25 PM

I have been trying with very minimal success to feed late 07 hatchlings. They seem to want to hibernate rather than eat. They are now staying on the cool side of the cage and sleeping constantly. They are not sick just wanting to check out for the winter. My game plan is to take them down in temps for a month or so and then wamr them up and hopefully they will eat again. I have never had to take a snake lower than 75 degrees so my question is...

How are you all taking them down to 59? My house temps are nowhere close to that anywhere. I could get them to maybe 68 in the house basement but that is about it.

Depending on where you live and what the outdoor temperatures are there, you could try putting them near a drafty window or sliding glass door. I had troubles finding a spot in my apartment to cool my garter snakes but ended up cracking our sliding glass door open and putting them on the floor in front of the door, seems to be working perfectly.
