can crested live in terrarium?

nevrenufanimals Jan 14, 2008 01:31 PM

Hi! Recently we built a vivarium with the possibility of housing dart frogs or other arboreal species. It is a 30 high aquarium with a small pond, small waterfall, and at least 3/4 land area. The background is totally covered with driftwood pieces, vines, tillandsia, and it is well planted, with a coco type substrate and moss. Humidity ranges about 60-70% (although if I cover it with glass, it increases). I came across the cute crested gecko today while searching for potential inhabitants. Can or will a crested do well in this type of environment?

i wouldn't put less than a full-grown gecko in there, but it should be a great home - my only concern would be the depth of the pond, as your gecko may fall in and may not be able to swim!

In most spots the pond area is barely more than 1 inch deep. There are also pieces of wood that stick out of it, so they can climb on and out. With younger ones, I would probably drop the water level even more. I can go up or down with it.
