Got new tank for new WTF

Snakemother Aug 26, 2003 10:52 AM

I today got a really good deal on a 20 gallon high tank with a painted back wall (on the outside) and a big piece of bark affixed halfway up the back wall, and a screen top. I've used papertowels for substrate, added a humidity gauge and temp gauge, suction-cupped some plastic plants on the back wall, added his water dish, log hide and another plastic plant on the floor. I have a infrared bulb light for when it gets colder here. Anything else I need?
He looks so small in there (he's a little over 2 inches), and I hate upsetting him again - he just got used to his home here and resumed his green color recently. Poor little guy! Anything I can do to help his transition?
Also, I've thought that maybe a friend would help him be less stressed - is this true, and if so, is a 20 high enough space for two?
Thanks in advance (and for the past) for all your help!

Frogs don't get lonely and sometimes a "friend" can add stress as well. A 20h wouldn't be enough for 2 adults, so if you did get a second one you would have to upgrade to a 30 gallon once they reached adulthood. Plus, when adding new cagemates you have to quarentine the new one for a few months to be sure that they are healthy and don't have parasites that can be transfered to the first froggie and end up making them both sick.

Just give your little guy some time, he will adjust and will make use of his home soon enough.

Only thing I can think to add would be some nice thick, sturdy branches. A few of them. Just criss cross them from one high end to the low end,you know what i mean.
