the Mamba and me

mfezi Jan 15, 2008 03:50 PM

Dont often post on here,

Sitting on the border of zimbabwe, just had a bad nights herping. Up early tomorrow to head into Zim. Cant sleep so I thought I would share this picture.

It was taken in Swaziland, this is a Black Mamba and 2 rhinos. What you cant see to the lefto of the frame is an ostrich and to the right is two hippos and a crocodile. You have to love africa

Sounds like a party to me...

What goes up must come down...unless it exceeds escape velocity.

Cool pic...I think I'd be more nervous with the rhinos staring at my rear! Looks like herping paradise and thanks for sharing.

ahh, having worked with white and black rhinos for many years, I'd be more concerned about the mamba! LOL!

That is really amazing. I noticed he’s really looking at your hand…not! I’m sure an experience like that would make up for a few bad nights of herpin’. Please post more often!

LOL I wouldn't know weather to watch the snake or watch the rhinos LOL Looks like an adventure for sure

So, that is about a 5 foot (young) d. poly.? (hard to say)

What are you doing there capturing specimens etc., filming, scientific work or just adventuring?

What else have you spotted?

Thankyou for sharing.

Great photo! Personally, depending on how close the hippos were, I'd be more afraid of them than anything else!

research, filming and eco tours. Was a small mamba, biggest one was 10 feet or so, saw 6 in one day. Also thinks like Black Spitters (N.woodi), horned adders, shield nose, corals etc... I have plenty of photos to share, need to sort through them. just got back, almost 3 months, 5 countries, 20k miles, and I think I have malaria. Will post some photos asap
