halfway shed skin...

dangermouse21 Jan 15, 2008 04:22 PM

I have a new cornsnake someone gave to me. It has shed its skin but it only come halfway off. The head and halfway down its length is off but not the rest of it. What is the best way to get the rest of its skin off? I have went ahead and put some sticks and a small thing of water in its cage to hopefully help it finish shedding, but what else should I do to help?

did you not have a water dish in it's tank to begin with?
You need to give a complete description of your snake's setup so we can help you out.
To begin with, though, you definitely need a water dish large enough for the snake to fit in.
I would be willing to bet the husbandry problems are why it won't eat either.

what size tank?
what type of substrate?
what type of heat source?
any hides? how many? how large?
lighting?

tell us everything about it
that's the only way we can help

when my snakes are about to shed i always provide extra moisture to their tank. Either by adding some water to the sub. under their favorite hide or by simply misting them at least twice a day!
