update on my little turtle

chelonian71 Jan 15, 2008 06:48 PM

Well, maybe what the zoo vet said was correct. I swapped the old UV tube that was over the boxie with the newer one that was over my aquatics. Within a few days my turtle's behavior was back to normal (not spending lots of time soaking anymore).

Did you bring your turt to Dr. Bennett? He's the one I bring my turts too also. He also neutered my rabbit! Did you know he was first an M.D. and they later became a vet!?

I'm glad your little kiddo is doing better!

I don't know what the family/last name of the John Ball Zoo's vet is. We call call him Dr. Rick... works on pretty much every type of animal. Since I volunteer there and happened to be around him, I asked him some questions, and and his advice seemed to help--I THINK. The turtle is not spending enormour amounts of time in the water dish, but when I attempted to feed "her" (I think the sex is female) two days ago she ate nothing. I'll try to feed again today.

Don't know whether the zoo vet (Dr. Rick) also goes by "Dr. Bennett" (or whether he works places other than the zoo), but Dr. Rick has a neat beard with the top of his head shaved bald.

Dr. Bennett recently retired from being the zoo vet. They were supposed to hire a new full time vet. Is Dr. Rick the new vet?

Well, I don't know how long Dr. Rick has been there, but he is quite young - would not expect him to retire soon unless to switch occupations.

Sounds like he is the new zoo doc!

Yep, he is. I asked someone yesterday (I've only been volunteering there about a month), and he said Dr. Rick replaced Dr. Bennett in November.
