feeding alternative?

JeffK Jan 16, 2008 07:44 AM

i have 18 of my own dragons now and i have been feeding them crickets 2 times a day. crickets are getting to be to hard to keep alive and pay for.(i have food water potatoes ect.)just like having crickets as a main insect diet can dragons have meal worms instead or another easier kept insect? i find it easier to breed and keep my own worms plus its much cheaper.

I have 17 dragons. Right now my adults staple is superworms since many are brumating. I breed my own silkworms and am on a standing order schedule for hornworms. I have my own roach colony but they won't breed in the winter because of the cool temps. I also have butterworms for variety.

I don't love crickets but they really are the best staple food for dragons in my opinion. I keep them and use them as my staple 9 months of the year. Crickets are easily gutloaded and have the right moisture content. Many of my dragons are just not interested in the roaches which would be a good 2nd choice.
