More food questions

You were all so helpful on our igs diet that I am back with more questions. How small should I chop up the food for this little guy? Again I would say he is 6 inches or so from nose to vent.

Imagine a standard #2 pencil – remove the eraser (visible section only) and cut it in half, this is approximately the size we aim for. I was reading that some people use a blender, so perhaps I am harming my igs digestive system by forcing him to eat too large of food pieces? We grate the carrots....so I guess that’s good

After work tonight I am picking up as many of the items listed on iguanaden.org’s diet page. We will mix up enough to last a week or so and see how long it lasts in the fridge – we will also switch to feeding him twice a day, so far we have just fed him once a day.

well i usually just tore up the mustard greens, and cut up pieces of carrots and stuff but i just started using a blender a few days ago and it makes everything easier, BUT if you put some food in there that he doesnt like he might not eat alot because it will be harder for him to sift through the food and dig out what he likes and doesnt like

To save money, at the grocery store you do NOT have to buy the whole thing of greens. You can rip off as much as you want, and bag it. Little known fact.

hi crimsonghost that will befine size that you say #2 pencil and half it like green beans and such the carrot and yam, most squashs can be shreded it will be fine for him dont have to use blender. i find when i go shopping for the greens i leave them in the plastic bag (like put loose fruit in) when i get home i sprinkle a little water in the bag with greens and put them in the produce drawer in frig and mine last for quite some time i make up enough greens for 2 days at a time and put those in a storage bowl with lid my kiwi eats 6cups of greens and vegs a day she is quite large i give her 3 cups for breakfast and then she will have 3 about cups for dinner. you my not need that much yet it will be how much it will eat at one time then try to give the much each time it takes awhile so do worry good luck iggirl1

I usually just cut up the greens smaller than my iguana's head so he can pack more in his tummy. I also grated the veggies on the cheese grater, but for stuff like green beans, snow peas, and sugar snap peas I just use the food processor and cut it up into little pieces so he can eat it safely and easily.
