Regurge

ROC Jan 16, 2008 07:21 PM

I have three ball pythons together in a tank (not ideal I know, but they have plenty of room). They have take many meals for me under these conditions and with the same husbandtry conditions. One regurged while the others keep theirs down. The only thing I can think of is that I feed it a larger rat fuzz than I normally had, but all the fuzzies came out of the same bag. Is this a possibility? Also, it hasn't eaten in the last two feedings (one a few days after the regurge, then another four days after). Will it be awhile before he eats? Never have dealt with this before. Thanks a lot.

at the very least- get the one thats regurging into a seperate cage asap-- let him rest for a week, and offer food again--

but he really should be seperated- it would be less stressful...

good luck

2 more 20 gal tanks wouldn't cost much to set up. They really need to be seperated.

also, just seperate due to the fact that the regurger may be sick and you do not want the other two to also become sick. to address your prey item size question, if he got it down, i doubt he regurged it due to its being too large. i think the answer to the problem lies elsewhere... and, sorry if this is obvious, as i have no idea what you do or do not know - do not handle snakes after they eat. it can make them puke.

I doubt it has to do with prey size - more likely a husbandry issue - separate into appropriate size cages, make sure your husbandry is correct, your temps are good and try again in about 10 days.

Seperate "heaver" into own tank! I know some guys say 2 weeks before try feeding again! I'd go at least 10 days! It takes some time for the digestive track to rest, after going in "reverse"! That's why it hurts so much when you puke! After your rest period, make the prey item smaller than before and turn up the heat! A lot of times, they're fine!
