Winnipeyguy-- cable Q's !!

OKReptileRescue Jan 16, 2008 07:42 PM

hey-
we've been tampering with our system this evening-- we are using the same cable as you- used for keeping pipes from freezing- but we found it with no tstat... (good thing too- since its a pain)

we are going with 2 rows of the cable under each tub- problem we're having is that when we loop it back around for row # 2-- it doesn't lay flat....

have you encountered this yet?

Thanks...

hmmm...the cable I have lays nice and flat. do have a suggestion. Plug it in, and let it heat up a little before laying it in the groove. The heat will loosen it up, and might help. I am using four rows (three loops) and have the loops go more than 180 degrees. makes the loops wider, and kinda makes it look like its a constant curve. Still no pics, but I promise I'll get on that soon. (Won't be working on it much til I'm done the 12 hour days anyways.)
Does the cable you are using have two wires, or is it a single thick wire?

i'm using the one that is 2 seperate wires, but wrapped in the black rubbery stuff- making it one-- make sense?

the idea i came up with this morning was to have the cable go out past the tubs on each side- so we could have it stick up a bit- which would give me a great spot to temp-gun the cable without distrubing everyone...
i was thinking about those bulldog staples- that you hammer in- they're pretty wide, i think i could use that to hold the cable down a bit...

hmm.... still thinking...

thanks

i'll get pics soon too-

hope those 12 hour days end soon- thats just no fun- i know how that goes!
