Fraternal twins (Non-Identical)

ajfreptiles Jan 17, 2008 01:16 PM

Just thought I would share a few pics of some new babies I just produced Jan. 13th 2008 litter of 26 live.
Anerys & Hets but what was really cool to see was 2 small babies sharing the same egg sac!!!
Fraternal Twins (NON-Identical) Looks like one Anery and one Normal type. Just thought I would share.

That is pretty slick, congrats on the latest litter. I am feeling quite envious, been too long since I've had some babies around here.

very cool! I had the same thing happen back in '03, the two 'twins' (not identical) were much smaller than the rest of the litter. Sadly they hung in there for a little while but both passed away (only ones that died out of 34 total).
Thanks for sharing the pics, they are so cute and tiny! And one anery.. how neat!

I would have thought that if they were sharing a sac, they would be identical, just like twins hatching out of a single egg.

All babies in a litter are fraternal siblings, being from different eggs but at the same time.

Congratulations on the nice litter. That is interesting that the twins were an anery and a het. I have only had twins once and I think they were identical. Since yours are not identical out of interest was one bigger than the other?
Good luck with the rest of your litters.

Thanks Bill, and also everyone else!

Bill, the Normal is somewhat larger although I did not take any weights on them. Thanks!
