a while back, somebody posted a great post on "taming" monitors(not the right word, but I couldn't think of a better one) it was a lengthy post and had the experiences of the author with his/her monitor in it and I remember that she got a lot of kudos for it, does anyone know where I might find it?

perhaps your memory isn't what it once was : )

there weren't any "kudos", but rather a good blasting over the "technique" of drowning a lizard into submission, among other taming strategies.

but that still could be the right one!

Anyways, I think he/she is referring to the long thread written by Holly with her mangrove monitor I think it was??? I think that one got a lot of "kudos" if I remember correctly. The thread however I think had more to do with handling if i'm not mistaken, but does fit into the "taming" category I guess.

you could be right, i remember that one now : )

i was thinking of that other Sav "taming" thread : )

RIP Lilly sorry to hear of your passing. Atleast you were tame during your short life (a year??).

Oh yeah again sorry and may you go to a better place

I also think he was talking about the post from Holly. If he was talking about the "water taming" stuff, then he should probably read this one anyway...so here it is.

Don't fret, your link is much prettier than mine. I can't believe it was in the 2006 archives. Where did the time go!?!

HappyHillbilly Jan 18, 2008 07:02 PM

I couldn't believe it was in the '06 archives either; I would've sworn it's been longer than that. Darn blackholes!

Is this the one you're looking for?

This should be required reading for every new varanid owner.

Hats off to -Holly-.

you really dont want to practice what that kaffir or dances guy does, did you know one of his savs just died from something it was only 16 months old. they are not very smart about monitor care and like to get nasty with anyone who disagrees. there is better information here.

I have said so about a few posters in the past, one was that torturer, and another was posting mainly on another forum, both have had the same result, dead monitors.
