temporarily cooling

cochran Jan 18, 2008 12:33 PM

I have a w/c Va. corn that started out eating really good for me then stopped altogether. She has been cooling down now for a little over 3 weeks.I'm cooling her to stimulate her to eat again since she's a little thin.(she appears to have layed eggs).Should this be long enough?? Thanks!, Jeff

Its probably just about long enough. Give it a shot. You can always cool her again if it doesn't work out. Nature pulls those kinds of tricks constantly.

Jeff, I'd go about 6 weeks myself. The extra time shouldn't hurt her any. As long as she is kept down in the mid - low 50's then she shouldn't loose any weight during a short 6 week brumation.

I've always put mine in the freezer for a couple of hours. teach the snake a valuable lesson. starve a cold and freeze a recalcitrant feeder, that's what i always say. or something like that.

I'd like to disavow the previous statement. Those responsible for it have been sacked. it was silly.
