Mali Uro that wont eat no matter what!

MightyMaliMoe Aug 26, 2003 01:40 PM

Hey everyone i hope someone can help! See i work at a pet shop and our MAli Uro wont eat. I'm currently syringe feeding him with baby food and electrolyte and appetite stimulant, he's gaining mass but not responding as i had hoped. See force feeding is a old friend to me and its no problem but I am not getting a great response and suggestions or comments or ideas would be great thanks again.

how long have you had it before you started force feeding it, because it could take up to a month for the uro to be acclimated enough to eat. Also, It could and probably does have parasites. You might have to take the mali to a vet. If you dont take it to the vet when you sell the uro you should tell the people that they might have to take it to the vet.

When we got him in about a month or so ago he was incrediblly skinny and was extremely weak. I began to feed him vggies by opening his mouth carefully and he did except them but now he wont no matter what. So the syringe was my only option. Also i've decided that i'm going to keep him as one of my own and add him to my collection. Also i have used this techinque of syri nge feeding for my water dragon who saddly had septic toxican and died from complications and also with my new born box turtle which someone had a couldnt take care of. The turtle took from octuber to may till she finally ate on her own. And the vet will be consulted soon if he does not improve. Thanks

my mali didn't eat for almost a month when i first got him. i know i'm probably being repetative, but have you tried favorites of uro's like dandelions, split peas, carrots? sometimes they just can't resist these. a good site to check out for more info and maybe sounder advice is deerfernfarms.com. The people are so nice, patient and informative. Good luck with the lil guy. Keep us posted!

Parasites (as you know) can make a reptile to lose its appetite!
