Was wondering if any of yours are like this...
I have been watching my Jackson the last few days and am starting to see his patterns...
He starts his day at 6:45am. That is when the UVB light comes on. That is when he opens his eyes. Generally he sleeps in the hibiscus where it starts to brach at the root...strong area and well protected. He stays there until 7:15 when his UVA heat light comes on. Then he gets up and stretches...stands fully upright extending his legs to the fullest. At 7:30 he gets misted for about 1 minute - at which time he rolls out of bed and goes straight for his warm area. At 7:45 I put lots of 2 to 3 week old crickets in a bowl and place it in there for him.
He goes over - eats a few..returns to his hot area and just sits with his mouth open/close/open/close. Extends his neck flap...etc...
He stays there most of the day or he goes into his ficus and sits there to get out of the heat. He goes back to his food here and there to pick some more. During this time he gets misted again...usually the crix are mostly gone by this time...(the crix stay alive since I use very small paste of veggies to sit them on...
When I get home from work - I take the uneaten crix out and replace them with a few silkworms. He walks up and eats them quickly.
He then spends the rest of the evenening "on patrol". walking vine to vine and going to each and every plant. He ignores any food at this time. He just keeps walking around searching...
At 6:30 I remove uneaten silkworms. Then at 7:00pm his heat light goes out. At 7:15 he gets misted a final time. during the mist - he drinks some water and then walks to his hibiscus an sits there. At 7:45 his uvb goes out and he goes to sleep.
I guess to a non cham person this sounds boring, but I guess I find it fasinating to watch. I figure this is the best way to make sure he is happy - to watch his routines and behaviors.
