I'm very excited about the caramel mojave but I can't say I've made any progress on it myself. I tried a possible het caramel to a now proven genetic but as yet unknown if it is related mojavish pet store female in both 2002 and 2003 but didn't get any eggs. My hope is it might produce some purple hues but I guess we'll find out eventually.
Randy:
Thanks for your input and good luck with the project.

Well it's a good thing people like you are working on it because it will probably be another decade for me to get anywhere, lol. I do think it's an exciting project and I'm surprised someone didn't do it a long time ago. Hopefully we'll start seeing them in another year or two. Maybe it will not be as nice as I hope but I can't wait until someone hits it to find out.
Brian, you the man. Nice pairings, keep us updated on what you have cooking. I can see you putting some animals in my collection this year.

I do not think you can go wrong with ANY Caramel cross, for the same reason most Pastel and most Ghost crosses all look better than the original, people like lighter and brighter.
I have mixed expectations about the Clown Mojave cross. Could be killer, most likely will be just ok...I think mixing two already busy patterns may not turn out great, but I could be totally wrong
Nice Caramel though, really nice!

I'm also on the fence about the mojave / clown. I put my pastel with the clown many times and have not witnessed any action so I thought what the heck I might as well produce some mojaves het for clown. Nothing ventured nothing gained......
Thanks for thr compliment about the caramel.
I hope you're having a great season.

One of my favorite morphs is the Clown, I am hoping my Pastel Het Clown male gets the job done this year with my two Het Clown females. I also am a big Mojave fan, but the Mojave and the Clown both have busy patterns, so....could be a great cross, could be ugly
I hear what you are saying, Mojave x Clown clutch is better than no clutch.
Pastel Clown is amazing, Pastel Mojave just ok. I would have guessed that the Pastel Mojave would have been nicer. So, like they say, do the breeding
Keep us posted!
Dave
I have a mid-July hatch Mojave het male who loves to eat, and I love that he loves to eat -- so I feed him -- often. He is up to around 650 grams. I am going to put him with the 2 het girls I have ready the middle of Feb.. If he goes, and they go, and I hit the odds I will have Caramel Mojave this summer. That's a lot of "IFS"... What a crap shoot!!! Give me those die. " Daddy needs a Caramel Mojave!!!". If the Ball Gods are listening, I would really appreciate a slithering baby BOY.
Happy Breeding Season Everyone!
Bill
Can't wait to see. I love Mojaves and would love to see an Enchi Mojave
I'm still working on my visual Caramel and Clown. But good luck with those...the Caramel Mojo should be awesome.

There's a photo in Barker's book. Credited to SK.
I believe that photo is mislabeled and is actually a ghost mojave. I don't believe the caramel mojave has been produced yet.
Sorry, I disagree....have you seen the photo? It's would be the only purple hatchling hypo mojave I have ever seen. Perhaps Tracy or SK will comment themselves, while there are a couple of mislabeled photos in the book, but I don't that's one of them.
Unfortunately I haven't bought any of the newer books yet. Every time I get any money in the snake fund it's got to go to feeders. If I eventually make a moderate value snake sale or start breeding my own rodents the VPI book is top on my list.
But the subject of that picture has come up several times on several different forums. Off hand I can't remember if the confirmation that it was a hypo mojave came from either TSK or VPI (which of course would be the most authoritative) but whoever it was seemed to be reliable at the time.
I have had the opportunity to see hypo mojave in person and they are very stunning so I could see how they could be taken for a caramel mojave.
i personally spoke with dan and collette about this last year, and they did indeed confirm at the time that the photo in the vpi book was a misprint, and they had not produced a carmel mojave yet. they also confirmed that the snake in the book was actually a hypo mojave.
If that's the case, I stand corrected. My apologies to Randy and others. I can see why the photo was mislabeled, I have seen few hypo mojaves in life and photos of alot more and NONE of them looked like that. Thanks for the info. I wonder if that was from a different line of hypo or if it's just an exceptional animal?
Congrats on some real cool breedings, what line caramel albino is that? Very impressive !!! Mark Petros
