Many Apologies...

blueselaphe Jan 21, 2008 02:04 PM

...on the worst creation to grace this forum! My son needed a project that was 100% recycled materials for Cub Scouts and school and we decided on an incubator due to the fact that we had copious amouts of syrofoam (extra credit for re-useing a matterial that can be more harmful in a landfill). Well, the wood came from the dumpster at work. The Marines in the repair shop have been repairing real old Sea -huts, plywood sheds that we live in when it rains... I scored (4) almost 4'x 2' pieces and a few close to 2' x 2'.
There isn't a straight line on this thing but we are having fun and my son is learning power tool safey and new combanations of special words. I never thought some old wood and a rainy Sunday afternoon would open my eyes to the wonderful world of a 6 year old - and the peace and quiet of my garage when he leaves!!
I will post pics in a few weeks..
Again, Chris, sorry...
-Blue

A friend of mine just built an incubator out of foil faced polystyrene. I think it's a great idea. And who cares about straight lines? It's the temperatures that count.

Currently keeping a small collection of various Gonyosoma. Both G. janseni and G. oxycephala.

We only had the packing styrofoam that came in boxes with the snakes we collected over the course of a few years. I did use the dense blue styro on the bottom and I am going to use foil tape to cover it. We are useing 1" styro on the top and 1/4" on the back and sides.
So far it's been a fun project. It took forever for him to change the blades in the jigsaw because he couldn't get it the collector to the right level - either too high or too low. I will post some pick when we get it finished.
