sayi breeding outcome?

Jonasgn Jan 21, 2008 03:36 PM

Hello all
I have a nice little group of bull snakes. 1 hypo male, 1 albino female, 1 female het for snow and patternless and 1 normal male.
What would be the resault from breeding the hypo male with the albino female?
What about the hypo male and het female?
And i guess that breeding the normal male whith the albino female, will produce normal looking babies het for albino?
Last one: The outcome of the normal male and het female?

Thanks a lot

Jonas

see if I can help. you asked,

breeding the hypo male with the albino female will result in all normals that are dbl-het for albino and hypo (hybino) unless the hypo is already het for albino and or if the female is het for hypo.If you produce hypos they will be het for albino. If you produce albinos they will be het for hypo or may even be visual double homos (hybinos).
breeding the hypo male to a "het snow" (true term would be double het for albino whitesided)and het patternless (or speckled) would also result in normals but they would be 100% het hypo and 50% possible het for albino, whitesided and speckled.
And yes, breeding the normal male to any visual morph will produce all normals het for the visual unless the "normal" is a het and you don't know it.

Good luck,

Shannon

ok thanks.
What if i were to get a hypo female and breed her with my hypo male?
Would the babies be 100% hypo?

Thanks again

Yes, there is always the chance that both would be het whitesided as well and you would produce hypos and ghosts (hypo whitesideds). Worse case you would have all hypos.

Were the hypos in your photo that color at hatching or do they change to those colors after multiple sheds?

Thanks

STILLWATER hypo bulls-they gradually attain that coloration (quite different from regular hypos, btw)gradually over their first several sheds post hatching.

AWESOME animals, Shannon-can't wait till my own (from Will Bird) mature.

What would the outcome be, if the het female is het for snow, ghost and (pattern ghost) i guess they mean patternless? And bred to the hypo male?

Triple thanks

o.k. again, since you are only using one visual morph in the breeding the offspring will all be normal and only definite het for the visual (hypo). then they would all be 50% het for the rest (albino, whiteside, and patternless).

Ok thanks a lot.
Just one last question.
If i breed to pits, that is normal looking and double het for albino and hypo.
Would the babies all look normal?
