Red Spider

brhaco Jan 21, 2008 04:44 PM

Here he is-he was something of a runt at hatching, but has more than made up for it since. Sorry for the crappy point-&-shoot color. He's actually much redder in person.

wow thats a great looking animal.hope it proves out to be genetic for both o you guys.

Very nice! I like how his face mask extends to his secondary blotches.
What bloodlines are you using?

brhaco Jan 22, 2008 05:11 PM

This little guy hatched spontaneously from my group of high reds that I've been selectively line breeding for several years (original animals from a variety of sources). He looked so much different from any others I produced that I had to keep him back despite the fact he was such a "runt" to start with.

What is he, an '07? Beautiful little hog. If you have any of his sibs left you should put up a comparison shot.

Can't wait to see the new shots. The only one I kept from that clutch was a very slow-starting male, who of course is still tiny due to his feeding problem.

BTW-I'll be taking my GPS out there this season. I'll send you the exact latitude/longitude coordinates for the spot I collected the gravid female your babies came from...

Yes Joe-it was just north of that on the inside (east) side of the curve leading up to that agave-covered hill. She was stretched out on the shoulder soaking up the morning sun...

Great looking animal.
What makes it a spider? I'm asking this because I have a hognose that has a similar pattern.

It's not a great picture but you can see the pattern.
What do you think about here ?
