Breeding Question

TheDragonMan Aug 26, 2003 03:37 PM

I have a male and female blood that I just got and I was wondering if it would be good to house both of them together or house them seperately and only put them together for breeding? Cage Dimensions: 6ft Long, 2 1/2ft Deep and 3 1/2ft Tall

Also I have a Rubbermaid container to use for her laying bin and was wondering how many inches of substrate I would need and what is the best substrate to use and if I need a heat lamp for it or not

Thanks

Best to keep males and females separate until breeding so that way you can control the breeding.. and the male will stress out the female and you don't want that.

Rubbermaid container will work well. Place about 12" or so of mixed chemical free potting soil and screened washed playground sand on one end and slant it down at about a 40 degree angle towards the other side of the container.. dig out about a 4" hole in the middle to help start her on the way.

Yes I would put a heat light over the end with the soil to get the temps in the mid 80's over that side for her. Put her in there and leave her alone don't keep messing with her it will stress her out and could cause her not to lay the eggs.
