Albino/Anery

What would an albino crossed with an anery produce?

All the babies would look normal, but they would have an albino mutant gene paired with a normal gene and an anerythristic mutant gene that is paired with another normal gene. The mutant genes can be passed to their babies when they reproduce. Mating brother x sister or (better) two less closely related snakes with the same mutant genes would produce a few babies that were both albino and anerythristic. Such a boa is called a snow. I'm sure there are pictures of snow boas on the web.

Thank you for your help. What I am trying to find out really is if I can produce a snow with my anery crossed with my albino.

Paul answered your question. If you breed:

anery x albino

you will produce:

normals that are het. anery and het. albino

All babies will be normal in appearance and each one will carry the genetics to produce albinos and anerys. They will be double heterozygous (dh) for snows. A snow is homozygous albino and homozygous anery. You could breed a male offspring back to his mother and produce snows. You will need to breed one of the following to get snows.

anery het. albino x albino het. anery

dh snow x dh snow

snow x dh snow

snow x albino het. anery

snow x anery het. albino

snow x snow

If you breed a male offspring back to the mother you wouldn't produce snows. If the mother is an albino and you cross it with a Het albino/het anery you'll get:

25% Het. Albino,
25% Het. Albino, Het. Anery,
25% Homozygous Albino,
25% Homozygous Albino, Het. Anery

There is no edit option here. I posted the possible crosses to produce snows and contradicted myself. I deleted another sentence in that post and missed that one.

And you missed four of the possible crosses to get snows...

DH Snow x Albino het Snow
DH Snow x Anery het Snow
Anery het Snow x Anery het Snow
Albino het Snow x Albino het Snow

(yeah, none would be my first choice but if that was what you had...)

IMO would be easier to say...

You can produce snows as long as both parents are somewhere on this list:

DH Snow
Albino het Snow
Anery het Snow
Snow

Obviously I should not rush through replies on my lunch break anymore. Glad the poster got the correct information.

Hey Phil, np, I know I mess this stuff up all the time. It gets mixed up in the brain to finger translation.

I hate realizing I made a typo and having it posted with no edit option. No biggie though. Thanks for posting up some of the ways to make snows.
