red sided or red spotted??

What's the difference between a red sided garter and a red spotted?? I see alot of pics that look the same. Thanks! Jeff

red sided garters, thamnophis sirtalis parietalis, are found thru the central part of the US up into canada and have varying amounts of red. red spotted garters,thamnophis sirtalis concinnus, are found along the west coast from northern california up into oregon and washington. basically have a row of red spots along the side stripes and lots of red on their heads.
