Biaks have been known to take a long time to go thru changes, often many years. It's possible that your female is really a male that's gone off feed. Have it probed or look at the shed for sperm plugs.

Black spots especially between the eyes or on the head could be "rub" marks from the animal rubbing against the enclosure. These would be raised most likely (like scabs). I've also seen black marks that have been burns and some that were ink stains from wet newspaper(ink marks come off with a shed). Black is a natural color in some GTP's and colors change sometimes over time, so it may not be anything to worry about. Pics and more info. would help. Thanks Robin

If the animal is in fact 12, I would also lean to a burn or rub... Where are the black spots located? and are the black spots grouped? (like a shotgun pattern)

I am also curious on the linage of the animal... Considering you say it is 12 years I assume the owner has a linage...
