ugh....

ok, so I guess you guys are stuck with my complaining....
I just took in a rescue. Its a year and a half (so I'm told) and tiny. They feed once every two or three weeks, and have to assist feed. When I asked about their feeding methods, I discovered that the mice they feed are thawed, but cold!!! No wonder they have to assist!!! Then I checked out the enclosure. Shredded newspaper that looks like its never been changed, a 100 watt lightbulb for heat, 24/7, with no UTH. I brought my heat gun, and the temp on the floor was 72 on the warm side. Its hide is huge, and open on two ends, so no security. Water bowl had green water in it from all the algae. Honestly, I can't believe this poor animal is still alive!!! The part I hate the most, is I have to be nice to these people, because I need to ask for a small donation to properly house this snake.
If he survives, he will be one tough snake!

Sorry, just needed to get that off my chest. I really think you should have to pass a test or get a liscence or something to own a pet.

The only good I can think of in this situation is at least they called you. Good luck with him - he deserves some TLC.

Poor little thing.. Makes me wonder where people get their information. I did a quick Google search & the first 10 or so hits held good, correct husbandry information. Ignorance doesn't account for neglect in my book. At least the little guy is in good hands now. Good luck & keep us updated.

Kudos to you my friend!!! People like you are greatly appreciated in the Herp world. That is the one thing that is scary about selling a ball python to someone. My wife is my interview person. She will ask 1000 questions and give 3000 statements of advice before putting a ball into someones hands. There are too many sources for people to call for someone not be taking proper care of their snake.
