What too do with...

coolluigi007 Jan 25, 2008 09:35 PM

Uneaten live rats? Okay. So I go to the pet store today. Ask for a very small rat and a med. rat. Girl says no prob. Comes out with my box, I pay, start heading home. Anyways, when I arrive home. I found that I had gotten 2 Med rats. The rat is way too big for my boy pastel too eat, and then my big normal wouldn't take the rat either. So now I have to WAY too big rats for me too do anything with, and I don't know what too do with them... There still in the original box I bought them in, I set the box in a small glass tank and tried to cover it the best I could. But I'm still really worried that they may escape. Any ideas?

Thats a idea. My snakes aren't too good with eating F/T though. So just sick it in the freezer? Thats all there is to it?

bring them back to the store and get store credit.

Claudeballs Jan 25, 2008 11:21 PM

Store credit sounds like your best plan. But if you decide to freeze them. Kill them first, let them cool down then plastic bag and freeze.

I say bring them back, it is my understanding FT rodents are only good frozen for about 3 months. If your snakes will not be big enough in 3 months to take them then you are just flushing money, take them back I am sure they will understand.

Never try to freeze a rat alive. You must kill it first.

Deep them in some fudge! Taste great!

If they are 1 male and 1 female you could breed them. Whatever you do don't put them in the freezer alive!
Freezing to death would be a horrible way to die.

Co2 or break the neck then freeze. Other than that...take them back to the store.

i agree with take them back and say you told the girl 1 sm and 1 med- and they didn't eat.

or freeze them- I had stuff in my freezer for waaaay longer than 3 months... its in the deep freeze... some of that stuff i've had for 6-8 months... its still good... but they wont be big enough then either.

try posting on craigslist "2 rats 15$"... or something...

to solve this problem. My, you are a genious. Too bad my parents don't think that way. If they did I'd buy rats that are too big all the time.

ginevive Jan 26, 2008 03:25 PM

I would take the rat back to the store and explain that you want Small, not Huge, rats And this is what you paid for and asked for. They should take those rats back, replace them with smaller ones, and yell at the person who waited on you for giving you larger, more expensive rats fnr a lower price
In the meantime, the rat needs food and water.
