Ken, Walmart, DMF. amd Waterford

chelonian71 Jan 26, 2008 12:27 PM

Ken wrote the following in a post below that might have been forgotten since the thread was old.

I was curious to whom he was talking to about DMF being near "Bill" in Waterford. My name's Bill, but don't know who Ken was referring to, and I don't live near Waterford.

BTW, DMF also stands for dimethyl formamide (apologies to any chemist if I did not properly space of hyphenate the name of that compound). I think the compound DMF is sometimes used in chlorophyll extractions, something I used to be into.

I don't know what the acronym stands for, but "DMF Bait Co." is the name of the live worm supplier for Walmart stores (at least in my region). The company is actually located near you, Bill, in Waterford.

Wasn't I trying to help you, or someone, locate waxworms? You asked what DMF stood for.

Aren't you in Michigan? The company is in Waterford, Michigan. I just meant to say that it was in your State. Relative to most of us, that is close.

I can get waxworms at most bait shops in Michigan, including Gander Mountain.

I also order live insects and have them delivered to my house from Southerncricket.com if I am buying in large quantities.

Oh, yes I do live in Michigan.... but I don't think I've ever heard of Waterford... I thought there was a city called Waterford in Connecticut.... I'll have to check

chelonian71 Jan 27, 2008 02:25 PM

O.K., just checked Google:

There is a Waterford Township over on the east side of the state near Pontiac (whereas I live in the Grand Rapids area, and the east and west sides of the southern Lower Peninsula often don't get along .

There is also a city called Waterford in Connecticut

You quoted my comment about the east and west sides of the southern Lower Peninsula not getting along, but no new text appeared in the post. Did you type some comment regarding this that somehow didn't make it into the posted message?

huh....wonder how that happened!

I think I said something about people on the east side of the state not even knowing there is a west side!

I think the joke goes something like: That whooshing sound you hear is state tax dollars being spent over in the Detroit area.

I wish there was a type of legislator (like the Senate with the Federal govenment) that does not cover district of a certain number of people but a district that is independent of number of people, so spending would be a bit fairer. I think it's bettern now than it used to be though! My dad is into this because he is a member of the Kent County Republican Party and a County Commissioner.

lol! yeah, I think that's it.

My brothers own a surveying/engineering company. I bet they know your dad!

I should add that although my dad is a member of the Kent County Republic Party, he, like I, disagree with a lot of Republicans' stances on environmental/ecological issues. (I thought that might be important since folks here are interested in saving wildlife such as turtles.)
