Solutions for dust?

jess6448 Jan 26, 2008 02:21 PM

My uros dig constantly and throw dust everywhere. I'm sure someone else has the same problem. I was just wondering if anyone has found a solution for this. It's causing me and my boyfriends sinuses all sorts of hell. We hadn't noticed previously but we had to move their tank and now its become a problem. Any suggestions would be great! Thanks!

What kind of substrate are you using? Play Sand should not throw up that much dust. If your Uro's are under 6" in length, they should actually be on papertowels. I personally prefer white millet seeds as a substrate, no dust and easy to clean, plus the Uro's can nibble on it with no problems.

What are you using as substrate? I got play sand from Toys r Us and it was very clean, though more coarse than I liked. I just recently switched to pool filter sand from a pool supply store, and it's finer, and with no dust at all. When I poured it out of the bag, there was virtually no dust visible.

I'm using play sand currently. I might have to try the pool sand. It seems like they are always digging and throwing sand everywhere... haha! They are pretty funny to watch... just got to fix the dust.
