just wondering

hey all!

im not exactly sure what my question is but i know i have one... just haven't formulated it into words just yet... id like to just hang around and see what yall are up to and know... but heres where im at in my snake world...

my husband and i are very soon going to be purchasing a ball python (hopefully) and we are doing some reading and stuff about them. I have owned snakes before but none quite this big. Anyway i just have a question about this one particular burmese python actually. After i saw this one i began wondering if i should start with him. hes an albino burmese python in this pet store down town and its in a REALLY bad condition (eg. cage is WAY too small, too cold, too many people. etc)... it has been sitting in that cage for the last 2 years and i finally got up the courage to ask about him a couple of days ago... and the ladys eyes got real big and she told me he was mean?... like how? and can that change?... this snake is probably around 7-8 feet already and he was captive bread. Im not into handling my reptiles and herps all that much and i wouldn't dare handle this one... but tell me this... would it be worth getting him out of that environment?... or would that not be such a good idea? and how much different are burmese pythons and balls temperment wise?

when you rescue snakes from pet shops like this, they will just turn around and get more snakes that will need rescuing. And besides, a (possibly) wild caught burmese python does NOT make a good first snake.

i did give it a great deal of thot and i do agree with what you say... so i thot i still want a way to help this snake i feel horrible for it... and someone who has dealt a lot with this kind of thing said to call animal control about it... and have them deal with it... so i am going to do that this monday... i hope it works out... because maybe i can't save this snake but someone needs to and this pet store shouldn't be allowed to have animals at all let alone such a large snake!
