heating source

gtrejo Jan 27, 2008 01:04 PM

I recently bought a 50 gallon tank, its 3 feet long , foot and half deep and bout foot and half tall. Is that good enough for a 7 inch dragon? is it to big? What would be the proper heating sources to use for basking spot?? and which UVB light is good?
thanks

most standard household bulbs are fine for a basking light, or flood/spot styles can work too.

For UVB repti-sun or repti-glo (similar names, two different companies, but both products are excellent) florescent tubes are best, or the mercury vapor bulbs by the same companies (Exo-terre or Zoo-Med). Some other brands are good too I just cant' recall their names off hand.

Avoid the compact florescent tubes, they don't work as good and concentrate all the UVB in a relatively small area..so your dragon doesn't get exposed as much. ALso, they are known to cause eye problems.
