Resulting Color Morphs?

Lonesomejungle Jan 27, 2008 03:43 PM

Greetings, First time I've posted so if anyone could help that would be great.
I've been reading a few websites over resulting color morphs but have found conflicting information so I was wondering if anyone could just give me the scoop.

Breeding an Amel with Anery A = Ghost
(Someone said they made wild het ghost, unsure)

Breeding Bloodred with Anery A = Granite

Breeding Amel with Ghost = Amel

If anyone could correct those or explain what's the matter with them it would be very appreciated!

Now, not knowing if your snakes are het for any other genes, which, in today's world, is very likely! But let's just consider that they are NOT het for anything. Breeding an Amel to an Anery will give you normal babies het for amel and anery. Ghosts are Hypomelanistic Anerys. Thus since neither of your adults are hypo or het hypo...

Breeding Bloodred with Anery A = Granite

Again, you will get normals het for both genes, normals HET bloodred and anery. Only in the next generation would granites show up, that is bloodred and Anery showing in the same snake.

Breeding Amel with Ghost = Amel

Nope! Normals het amel, hypo, and anery!

A great book to get a hold of is the cornsnake morph guide by Chuck Pritzel. Google it, it'll show up! It'll help explain very well the genes and colors in corns.

Breeding Amel with Ghost = Amel

Amel X anery = normal babies that carry the amel and anery gene. When you breed the offspring together you will get some snows wich is a combination of the amel and anery genes. You will also get some amels and anerys that MAY carry the other gene as well. No ghosts here. That requires the hypo gene breed to the anery.

bloodred X Anery = normal babies het for bloodred and anery. WHen you breed these offspring together them you can get some granites as well as some more bloodreds and anery's that are possibly het for the opposite gene.

Amel X ghost = normal babies het for amel, hypo and anery (ghost is combo of anery and hypo genes). When you breed the offspring together you will get amels, ghosts, anerys and snows. YOu amy also get some sunglows wich is the combination of the hypo and amel gene (I think?).

Hope this helps.
