soil???

BurnziesBalls8 Jan 27, 2008 07:05 PM

I know certain people use different soil mixes.... i have mixed a couple bags of small bark chunks for one corner and have used potting soil..... it says all organic made of forest soil, peat and permiculite..... it's very dark brown almost black with little white chunks..... just wondering if you guys think thats alright? he's still in his old cage now but i would like to move him tonight or tomorrow.... it doesn't say it has any chemicals anywhere so i would think there isn't.... and it's very cheap 98 cents for 20 lbs so that makes me think there is no chemicals.... what do ya think? good or no good

Watch the monitor and maybe it will tell you what it thinks.

One thing about peat/soil mixes is it's "clump & grab" technology.

Huh?

Ha! What I mean is if it's too wet on the surface it can cake on the monitor's toes/feet.

Later!

potting soil is not what you want, you want topsoil. potting soil may be "organic", but poop is organic, and potting soil is made to grow plants better, so it includes extras. organic extras, like poop.

base your store bought mix around plain dirt, fill dirt, screened topsoil, etc, those without "organic" or other mix ins.
