Finally My Girl is Turning Green!

tumbslt Jan 27, 2008 07:24 PM

Hey Everyone,

My chondro is finally starting her color change after a year and half of waiting. In the matter of 3 or 4 days she has progressively gained more and more greens and blues. Which is pretty cool considering I thought that she would change gradually over each shed. But instead all at once she has started her color change and she hasn't even shed in about 3 weeks! Thought I would show you guys a before and after these are seriously like 4 or 5 days apart.

thanks for looking,

Shannon

She looks terrific! My first chondro didn't start changing until she was 16 months old. I thought she'd never go and do it!

Yeah, those colors changes can be quite fast or quite slow. I bought a maroon hatchling a few years back that started its change at about 1 year. It slowly, ever so slowly, changed from maroon to yellow/orange over a period of about 3 months. Once a solid yellow/orange, she stayed there for about a month. She went from yellow/orange to solid green in less than 48 hours. It’s amazing and one of the coolest things about GTPs.

my jayapura changed super fast also withing a week he/she was already almost pure green with a full blue stripe. i found that if they have a full stripe on them as a neonate. it will usually produce a full blue stripe. whats your subspecies?
