Enigma questions

coheed196 Jan 28, 2008 10:41 AM

So I've been selling off alot of stuff around the house that i dont need to buy an enigma leo. i have tried searching around online about them but everything i read is very confusing. my question is pretty much can enigmas be bred with any morph? i read that it is a dominant trait (which means nothing to me.) And will an enigma X any other morph produce all enigmas? Any help is appreciated.

i will try to answer this to the best of my ability please correct any misstakes i make. no breeding experience.

i was just talking to sean from vms about the enigma. very cool. what dominant means is that an offspring only needs to get that specific gene from one parent. that would make it heterozygous. a dominate trait will show through with a het animal.

if the animal gets the gene from both parents it would be considered homozygous. these traits will always show.

crossing an enigma to a normal with get you all het enigmas if the starting enigma is homozygous. all offspring will show enigma.

crossing a het enigma with a normal will get 50% het enigma and 50% normal.

again because the enigma gene is dominant all hets will show the trait.

hope this helps

From what i have heard.
If you breed a enigma to a normale you will get around 50% enigma and arpund 50% normale het for nothing just plain old normale.I have not worked with this gecko but after talking to frinds that have them that is what i heard.

I breed enigmas and have yet to here of anyone having a double copy(homozygous) enigma as theory goes. They are easiest explained as similiar to the mack snow without a super form. meaning that E x BELL gives 50% enigma het bell and 50% normal het bell.

Most of mine will be tremper line and non albino crosses, but I do have one single female dedicated to bell line enigmas.

Here is my first bell line enigma hatchling at 1 day old
