How are gecko senses?

wolf-force Aug 26, 2003 08:03 PM

Hi. I was just wondering how gecko senses are? I know they can see great by the way they spot the crickets so fast, but how is there hearing? Is loud music or noise bothersome to them? Do they smell when new food is put in? I don't need to know this but i'm just curious.

Thanks, mike.

hi dont know much about geckos but my crested gecko, captin crunch, is very noise sensitive. when he hears a loud noise he runs or jumps. he doesnt seem to mind as much once he knows he will hear it. i have three dogs when the noisey one barks once out of no where every now and then, he will jump and run up the side of his cage or if hes in his cardboard tube you can see the whole tube sort of pop up. but if the dog continues to bark he just breathes fast, and looks uncomfortable but goes about his buissness or stays very still so nothing will see him. I dont know if scientifically it hurts them or bothers them any but i guess if you plan to play music just let them get used to it first and dont play it really loud around them. Mine doesnt seem to care as long as the volume is not to high and its not playing in the room he is in.
