Temp Monitoring? for techies.

mikebell Jan 29, 2008 11:11 AM

I wanted to know if anyone has a method of remote temperature monitoring. I was hoping to find a system to connect to the computer that would allow me to log on and check many different temps from a remote location.

Any Ideas? Thanks Mike

Not to turn my back on my ball python brethren, but if you check out various amphibian forums you may find a better (and cheaper) way to do what you are looking for.

I remember when I used to keep and breed various tree frogs, there were many different sites and forums that detailed how to set up naturalist vivaria and rain chambers, complete with temperature and humidity monitoring.

Frogs can be more difficult to get to breed and then to keep the young alive throughout the early stages of their life cycle can require some pretty specific temperature and humidity levels.

If I remember correctly most of the software was usually user created and downloadable for free. The hardware was usually something home-rigged... Every now and then I ran across someone who purchased the hardware / software combo needed.
