Butter Worms

kavo Jan 29, 2008 05:41 PM

How often would you feed these grubs to your leos? I know wax worms are suggested only as a treat every 1-2 weeks. From what I have read, butter worms half a high natural calcium content and a decent protein content. Thanks for any oppinions.

I don't know about butterworm, but two good staples that breeders use are crickets and giant mealworms. They are both easy to get and great for them.

I actually tried a couple of butter worms several years ago. If they are what I'm thinking of, anglers like to use them b/c they supposedly have a delicious pungent smell. Personally, I wouldn't call it delicious, but I can see why fish might like them. I only got one leo to eat one, and she didn't come back for seconds.
